I like to think I’m pretty organized…but I NEVER thought I could prep 10 meals in an hour!
Until I did – and the sense of accomplishment and time I got back each day – made it so worth it. As I did it the first time, I realized that there are some tips that can help keep you on track and get the job done even faster. I also had a disaster that I’d like to warn you about!
Tip #1 – Have a Plan
I found a plan for 10 Crockpot Freezer Meals in an Hour from The Family Freezer. I will link it below. The site has several different freezer meal prep plans – but this was the one I went with for my first time. It has everything you need – the recipes, a shopping list AND a sheet to print out labels for your Ziploc bags.
Tip #2 – Use Ziploc Bag holders
I don’t have an affiliate link, but the Ziploc bag stands are AMAZING! They aren’t kidding when they say they are like an extra set of hands.
Tip #3 – Gather up ALL of your ingredients
-Drain and rinse your beans and put them back in the cans
-Make recipes from scratch
The 1-hour plan I followed used a lot of premade sauces – but some of them weren’t available at the store so I found recipes for them online. I made them as I went along, and although I STILL finished in an hour, I wished I had them completed already.
Tip #4 – Have your trash can close
Set it up next to you, or a REALLY big garbage bowl (that you can empty when you’re done) so you aren’t spending time walking back and forth to the trash can.
Tip #5 – Proteins last
Put everything except proteins in the bags and then cut up your proteins at the end and add them to the bags. I would recommend chopping proteins like chicken breast and pork chops (unless you plan to shred your chicken breasts).
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST….Don’t go crazy with stacking your freezer meals before they freeze….or you might have a blowout like I did.
I hope these tips can help you get fresh healthy meals on the table for yourself and your families and help give you back some time as well. If you have any feedback…please let me know.
Here is the link to the 10 Freezer Meals in an Hour plan that I used for this.
As a side note – I have tried some of the other plans on the site and while it took a little longer to prep them because it didn’t use any premixed sauces or prepped veggies, it was still worth it clocking in at 2 hours for 8 meals and there were no artificial ingredients.
